The designer of Shakira's She Wolf album cover is suing the singer's label, Sony. The album designer, Lee Swillingham, claims that Sony has not paid him $64,000 for his work on the cover.
According to the New York Post, Swillingham signed a $63,000 contract with Sony in the spring of 2009 for his services and was paid half the sum up front. Court documents further indicate that the designer earned $5,000 a day for extra work, totaling an additional $36,000.
However, the contract included a clause stating that Sony owes nothing if it isn't pleased with the final project. Swillingham's lawyer, Sam Israel, has accused the company of falsely claiming it didn't find the work satisfactory while using the images Swillingham created for the album anyway. She Wolf was Shakira's sixth studio album and her third English effort. It was released in the U.S. last November.
