American musician, rapper and producer, who matched Shakira’s suave belly dancing in Hips don’t lie and moved to bhangra at the prestigious The House of Blues in Toronto, is making his first trip to India. Jean, the member of the legendary hip-hop trio The Fugees, had famously said, “I have fallen in love with bhangra and other Indian folk influences, and no matter where you are in the world, the audience loves it too.”
Jean’s three-city tour kickstarts in Bangalore
on April 16, travels to Pune on April 18 and ends in Mumbai on April 19, and he is thrilled about the shows. “Many Indian composers are my dear friends and I’m extremely excited about the trip,” says Jean, who collaborated with and produced
for artists like Bono, Santana and Mary J Blige in the past. His latest album Carnival Vol II: Memoirs of an Immigrant will also be released on the eve of the tour.
