After all the hip shaking and belly dancing, it only makes sense that Shakira is now considering Bollywood. According to reports by The Daily Record, the Colombian pop star could make her acting debut in an upcoming Bollywood film. The movie, titled "Desire," will be directed by Bangladeshi director Enamul Karim Nirjhar, who received a National Nomination from Bangladesh for the 81st Academy Awards in the category of best foreign film for his movie, "Aha!" A large part of the movie is set to be filmed in Scotland.

Shakira is still in negotiations with movie executives to sing in the movie's soundtrack as well as to act in the role of "Desire," according to The Daily Record. Pending the negotiations, Shakira is expected to record the soundtrack with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Shakira is no stranger to Bollywood.
In the 2006 MTV Video Awards, Shakira added some Bollywood moves-- and her own version of traditional Indian attire -- to a live performance of her hit song, "Hips Don't Lie." At the time, she expressed interest in doing a Bollywood-style dance video with film director Farah Khan, who worked with her on the performance, according to BBC News.

Other Latin Americans have previously worked in Bollywood films. Brazilian super model Giselle Monteiro, for instance, played the leading role of Harleen Kaur in the 2009 Bollywood film, "Love Aaj Kal." Mexican actress Barbara Mori had a lead role in the movie "Kites" alongside Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. The film was a love story between a Mexican beauty and an Indian man.
Now it appears the Latin American star who popularized belly dancing is set to make her mark in Bollywood.

SUPERSTAR Shakira is ready to head to Scotland to appear in a Bollywood movie. The Hips Don’t Lie singer is in talks with film bosses about a lead role in forthcoming Indian blockbuster Desire. It will be directed by Oscar-nominated Enamul Karim Nirjhar, who will shoot a large chunk of the movie in Scotland.

Colombian Shakira is in negotiations to sing on the film’s soundtrack and on the verge of agreeing to play an acting role. If she signs up, the star will jet into Scotland in April with the rest of the crew. Bangladeshi director Nirjhar said: “The film is at a very early stage but, yes, we are coming to Scotland to film. “Shakira has been talking to our musical director Debajyoti Mishra.“We hope it will be interesting.” The movie, which will also be shot in Dover and London, is a musical about how desire plays havoc with people’s lives.

It is understood Shakira has been asked to play the role of Desire. Mishra said the singer was impressed with the soundtracks of previous films he had worked on with Nirjhar. Shakira is expected to start recording the soundtrack with the London Philharmonic Orchestra next month. Mishra said: “Before giving her go-ahead, Shakira had heard the soundtracks of Raincoat and Aha. “She was particularly impressed – that’s what she said on the phone on the second day of coming on board.”

Shakira has only been in Scotland once – when she put on a spectacular show at Glasgow’s SECC in December 2010. The star wowed fans with her hits including ­Whenever, Wherever and Waka Waka – the official song of the 2010 World Cup.

The singer is a huge fan of Bollywood. In 2006, she asked Indian choreographer Farah Khan to put together a dance for her. She performed it to Hips Don’t Lie at the MTV Video Awards wearing ­traditional Indian clothing. She has been linked to a number of Bollywood movies, including Kali The Warrior Goddess and Om Shanti Om – but has yet to star in one. Bollywood recently announced Scotland as its No1 location worldwide. Hit movie Mausam was filmed in Edinburgh last year.

Singer Shakira has become the first Colombian to be honoured with France's Chevalier De L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres medal. The 34-year-old received the award from the French Minister of Culture Frederic Mitterrand in Cannes Saturday.

"I am so humbled to receive this honour in a country like France that has shared an important cultural legacy with the rest of the world," Shakira posted on her official site. The medal recognises significant contributions to the arts and literature and other recipients of the awards are T.S. Eliot, George Clooney and Clint Eastwood.

A former employee is threatening a Shakira sex tape blackmail scandal if money is not paid to squash the threat. That's the report from Kickette, a soccer-themed news outlet, with an unverified scoop rumor, started by TV Notas, stating that a former, so far unidentified, employee of Shakira's, allegedly filmed the Brazilian pop star and soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique having sex. The report states the filming was consensual. Huh? Now that's a personal assistant...

But it goes on to say that the Shakira sex tape will be released by the employee unless the couple come up with an unspecified amount of money as a blackmail demand. What a crazy story. How can this work? Going public with a blackmail threat can't help this person get the money he or she wants. So it does seem rather dubious and suspicious.

Shakira, of course, is a sexy bombshell hit maker and a sex tape may actually enhance her image with fans. Look what it did for Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton who were virtual unknowns outside their celebrity social circles until unauthorized (?) sex tapes of them were released on the web. It even got them both in to recording studios with varying degrees of success on Pop Charts.

Is Shakira the latest star to feature in a homemade sex tape?

That's the rumor according to several Spanish sources, who claim that a member of the Colombian singer's staff videotaped her giving oral sex to footballer boyfriend Gerard Pique. Apparently the staff member has made the couple aware of the video tape and has asked for a substantial sum of money to ensure it doesn't hit the web. The video is only about a minute and a half long, according to the Mexican publication TVNotas, but surely that's more than long enough to cause quite a public scandal.

The sex tape rumor comes just days after another rumor involving the couple hit the press: that Shakira and Pique are engaged.

If there is a sex tape featuring Ms. Waka Waka and FC Barcelona star Pique then it's hardly a surprising turn of events. The pair are often the object of ridicule (though not necessarily malicious in nature) for their very public displays of affection, and last year photographers caught snaps of Shakira and a very naked Pique through the open windows of a Barcelona hotel.

However that doesn't excuse the staff member's actions. Regardless of how public the couple has been with their relationship they have a right not to have pornographic videos of them distributed online.

Colombian superstar Shakira gets an invitation to parade with samba school ''Renascer'' in the world-famous Rio Carnaval next month. Renascer, whose performance opens the spectacular carnival parades on February 19, also invited the legendary snake-hipped actor John Travolta to join them.

''The invitation is made. Now we have to wait for a gap in their schedules," said Renascer's artistic director, Edson Pereira. Renascer, a small school which recently entered Rio's elite category, is dedicating this year's parade to a Brazilian artist Romero Britto, a personal friend of Shakire and Travolta, according to Pereira.

One of the theme's of the parade will be ''Art of consumption and the consumption of art'," which will include a dance imitating those in the musical ''Grease,'' which starred Travolta.

Shakira is red hot in a strapless Furne One gown at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala 2011 on Monday (January 9) held at the Kongresshaus in Zurich, Switzerland. The 34-year-old Colombian singer, who attended with boyfriend Gerard Pique, hit the stage to present one of the evening’s awards.

At the gala, Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi beat out Cristiano Ronaldo and was named FIFA’s Player of the Year. Shakira congratulated Lionel on stage and also met up with football legend, Pele, who gave her a kiss on the cheek!

Shakira really knows how to pull out all the stops. She attened the FIFA Ballon D’Or Gala yesterday along with boyfriend, footballer Gerard Pique. You couldn’t miss her, with that sequined strapless, fishtail red gown. It’s a tad OTT, but Shaki pulls it off. Possibly because her make-up was so discreet, and her new bob was coiffed so well. Colombian singing sensation Shakira will croon and also possibly act in a feature film whose cast will comprise some leading names of Indian and Bangladeshi cinema, the film's director Enamul Karim Nirjhar of Bangladesh said today. Shakira will lend her voice to five songs and the music will be composed by India's Debajyoti Mishra for the proposed film.

Titled Desire The Flying Butter, the film will be co-produced by a friend of mine, Nirjhar told PTI from Dhaka. Nirjhar chose to keep the cast of the film under a wrap but said, "it will have some known and little-known actors from India and Bangladesh".

Replying to a question, he said efforts were also on to rope in Shakira to act in the film that will be shot in India, Bangladesh, Scotland and some other countries. The director, an architect by qualification and profession, also declined to share the storyline of the film saying "we will disclose everything gradually".

"We are keeping mum right now on the cast and story of the film for strategic reasons but we will let you know everything in course of time", said Nirjhar. Asked about the subject of the movie, he said, "it is going to be unlike ten other films. It will be a different kind of film.""All that I can say now is that we want to prove our existence, our desire and friendship of the sub-continent so that we in this region stand with our heads held high."
